Teach me to sew

A class designed for complete beginners – if you’ve just acquired a new sewing machine and want to learn more about it, or if you would start sewing from the very beginning then this class is for you. You will learn to wind a bobbin, thread and how to set up your machine ready for sewing. You will go through a series of exercises to gain confidence and to perfect your skills before making a simple tote bag. All materials are included in this class.

2 week class – Make a made to measure Skirt

Make your choice of a wrap, tulip shape, 1950’s style pleated or elasticated waist skirt in a day, using just your measurements – no paper pattern required!

Intermediate level – please be able to thread a sewing machine and sew a straight line.

Learn how to draught straight onto cloth and sew waistbands, seams, hems and depending on which style you choose gathers, pleats, pockets or a concealed zip……

Once you’ve mastered this patternless ’freehand’ cutting technique you’ll be able to go on to make more skirts in any size or length at home.

Make a Boys Shirt or waistcoat

Make a boys shirt, or waistcoat to fit age 1-5 years from an ‘Anna Vickery’ paper pattern.

Workshop includes pattern and fabric

Take home a finished shirt or waistcoat and the skills to go on and make more – techniques covered include using a paper pattern, collars and buttonholes.
