New Course –  Summer school with Anna

3 Tuesday Sessions in August

14/8 – 21/8- 28/8

Working at your own pace in a small group make a garment with Annas help. Bring along your choice of paper pattern and material (we’re happy to advise and don’t forget to collect loyalty card stamps on materials purchased.) Suitable for beginners and progressing dressmakers.

Learn as you go, everything from measuring, laying out and cutting to constructing, altering and finishing your garment. Get to know the rest of your group and learn from what they are doing too – previous items made on evening classes include day and evening dresses, childrenswear, pyjamas, skirts, bags, mens shirts, waistcoats and jackets – what do you fancy making?

 

Runs 10-2pm on tuesdays from 14/8 t0 28/8 2018

 

Beginners Dressmaking with paper patterns

Popular 6 week evening class, working at your own pace in a small group make a garment from a paper pattern.

Bring along your choice of paper pattern and material (we’re happy to advise and don’t forget to collect loyalty card stamps on materials purchased.) Suitable for beginners and progressing dressmakers.

Dressmaking Master class – Working with Stretch fabrics

Join dressmaker Anna Vickery for an masterclass in working with stretch fabrics.

This 2 hour class will allow you to feel happy working tricky fabrics such as jersey

Dressmaking master class – Hems & Finishing touches

Time to finish off those half done projects! A crash course in seams, hems and edge finishes, bring a notebook…

This short class starts with a ‘show and tell’ of samples and discussion of when and where to use them and then allows you the opportunity to practice some of the techniques.

Includes French seams, Bias binding, Blind and invisible hems, Rolled and Pin hems, hems on stretch fabrics, jeans hems and more. Hand and machine sewing.

Suitable for beginners, those needing a refresher and students.

Master class- Zips & Buttonholes

Why is everyone scared of inserting concealed zips and sewing machine buttonholes?!

Set aside a couple of hours to practice these sewing essentials and leave with your own samples of the techniques and clear photographic notes to refer to.

You’re welcome to bring your own machine, please check you have buttonhole and double sided/adjustable zip feet attachments. Workshop suitable for beginners or those needing a refresher class.

Master Class – How to use a paper pattern

Dressmaker Anna Vickery will show you how to work with a paper pattern. During the 2 hours you will learn markings, techniques, cutting and placing.
