NEW – Free Motion Embroidery Club 22/7/18

Free-motion Embroidery is the skill of using your sewing machine to draw. It is used for decorating and embellishing your sewing projects and can be very addictive. You’ve been warned!

This is the 3rd of the new monthly club

Angela says come with an ‘open mind’. You will develop a skill every  month. Angela will teach at the beginning of the class and then its up to you to push and experiment with the skill.

  • Threads and some materials included.
  • Please make sure you leave a contact number where you can easily be reached so Angela can let you know what is needed before club.
  • Project briefs can be available for those who would like.

In this session you will be using dissolvable film/materials and how to manipulate them – you will need to bring a range of plain cottons and shear fabric

In this session you will be transferring your drawings to fabric

In this session you will be experimenting with different fabrics, papers etc. There will be a range of fabrics to try but please bring anything you want to play with

Mastering Zips & Buttonholes

Why is everyone scared of inserting concealed zips and sewing machine buttonholes?!

Set aside a couple of hours to practice these sewing essentials and leave with your own samples of the techniques and clear photographic notes to refer to.

You’re welcome to bring your own machine, please check you have buttonhole and double sided/adjustable zip feet attachments. Workshop suitable for beginners or those needing a refresher class.

NEW – ‘Reverse’ Pattern Cutting

Join Anna for the exciting new workshop. Reverse pattern cutting.

 

Got an old favourite? Make a pattern from your favourite top.

Have you got a favourite top thats seen better days? something such that has a nice fit that you have been trying to recreate? This is the class for you…

Learn how to make a paper pattern from an existing garment- find out about shape and symmetry, learn how to transfer seam lines/details and mark seam allowances, notched and hems.

Get advice about suitable fabrics and the order to put the garment together, maybe even start a ‘toile’ (mock up) if minor alterations have been made.

Price includes: 1 pack of pattern paper

  • Be aware in some cases the garment may need to be taken apart.

This is the first of the new monthly club and is a beginners/refresher session.
In this class you will learn how to set up your machine for free-motion, you will learn about the tools and materials and work through a range of exercises to demonstrate different techniques. You will get the also get the chance to work on your own design for a final piece.

1-1 class covers threading your overlocker, settings, functions and troubleshooting. Practice and take home a set of samples of what your machine can do and learn a few tricks along the way.

Includes 3 and 4 thread overlocking, use of the differential feed, rolled hems, flatlocking and more.

Teach me to sew

A class designed for complete beginners – if you’ve just acquired a new sewing machine and want to learn more about it, or if you would start sewing from the very beginning then this class is for you. You will learn to wind a bobbin, thread and how to set up your machine ready for sewing. You will go through a series of exercises to gain confidence and to perfect your skills before making a simple tote bag. All materials are included in this class.
