New Spring event – Journal Making with Gingergirl, Gaynor Ringland
On Sunday 24th march we will be holding a very special one-off creative workshop with Gaynor aka “Gingergirl”
Gaynor is a mixed media artist who creatively uses a wide mix of materials to create something personal and beautiful.
The workshop will be a full day of crafting and journal making. A real treat for someone special? Mothers day just around the corner. (hint hint)
You will receive a glass of Prosecco on arrival, an introduction and then on with the crafting, led by Gaynor. There will be a short break for lunch (provided) and then back to an afternoon or more making and creating. Bring along any photos, papers, printed text, postage stamps, tickets and any other ephemera and memories you would like to include
Everyone will take home a pack of crafting goodies and a journal that can be aded too.
We will let ‘Gingergirl’ herself explain the day…
“The workshop will be started making a simple collaged greeting card using the pack of goodies you will be supplied with (this is just an icebreaker!) I will give a brief introduction about what we shall be making and show examples of a couple of journals. Everyone will then make a sash to tie around the middle of their book using old ribbons or felt. Basically we are taking a previously loved book and altering it by using photos, various papers, printed text, postage stamps, tickets and any other ephemera. The theme can be memories, ( I’ve done mine on childhood memories and stories my mother told me) or it could be a travel journal, a baby book, a scrapbook of things worth keeping. The journals can be glued and stitched into. No previous experience of making will be required as everyone’s journal will be completely different. It’s important that everybody brings a stash of their own personal stuff otherwise it won’t work! Also, it will be a work in progress. I add to mine all the time! If anyone wanted to bring a proper bound new sketchbook instead of using one of my old books, that’s fine. I’ve been making and collaging for about ten years now. I mainly create things for presents, pictures and collages and I make cards to sell. I have only recently started to make again after a couple of years of ill health, it has been a life saver at times and I would highly recommend it!!”
